I’m very excited to debut my second chart in the Sue Bonnet Series – Sue Bonnet Happy 4th

Such a sweet little stitch with Miss Sue with her Patriotic dress and flag ready to march in the 4th of July Parade

This is charted with 6 colors – I used Aurifil 12wt, but you can easily pull the colors from stash – Red, White, Blue, Light Blue, Skin and Grey

Grid Size:   50W x 50H

Fabric:  16 Ct Aida Lace – but I encourage you to grab a fabric scrap

Finishing: I finished my Sue into a circle flat finish on a hand-painted board. Added custom made blue & white cording.

    This is such a fun cross stitch. My Mother started a Sun Bonnet Sue quilt when she was 13 years old from a pattern in a newspaper. All the dresses and bonnets are made from craps from her own dresses that her mother made. My sister and I finished the two blocks remaining and put them into a quilt with reproduction fabric sashing, borders, backing and binding. It was presented to my mother when she was 95 years old. Mom was able to enjoy the quilt for 4 more years. As little girls we were allowed to get out the quilt blocks and look at all the black embroidered appliques and fabrics used in the blocks. This cross stitch holds those memories. Thank you!
